Ditch Day At Mountain High
Harrison Gordon and Kyle Lopiccolo Host Their First Annual Event
Wrightwood CA - When Mountain High put together their new pro team this year, it was all about having a crew that would be invested in spending time at the mountain engaging the local riders and the community. As part of this effort, Mountain High has introduced three signature events hosted by their new team riders. The first of the three dubbed "Ditch Day" was hosted by Kyle Lopiccolo and Harrison Gordon and took place this Saturday, December 17th. "What a great weekend of amazing pro snowboards riding, hanging out and having a good time at Mountain High," says Mountain High marketing consultant, Brad Farmer. "Kyle and Harrison did a great job of hosting their first event and all of their sponsors and teammates came out in full force to help support Ditch Day."
Almost 90 competitors came out to compete in two divisions including ages 17 and under and an open class for everyone 18 and over. With $750 in plus thousands in prizes on the line, some of SoCal's best rail riders turned out to through down. Harrison Gordon's Salomon/Bonfire teammates turned out along with Kyle Lopiccolo's Bataleon pro teammates to help support and judge the event. With DJ Jokzilla of Fat Beats LA spinning and pro rider, Scotty Arnold and Salomon team manager, Java Fernandez on the MC duties, the stage was set for an epic day of shredding in SoCal.
The smooth setup included a forty foot flat-up-flat box, 20 foot street-style down rail and 40 forty foot down-flat-down rail all lead into a the "Hell Gap" which was made up of a banked box atop and between two quarterpipes and the "Spool of Death." Garret Warnick's gap 270 on the Down-Flat-Down and his toe-side spins over the "Spool of Death" were crowd favorites as well as Jeremy Estorga's all-around smooth riding and tricks along Erik Leon's nose press through the down-flat-down and combo's into the "Hell Gap."
Special thanks goes out to VonZipper, Monster Energy Drink, Salomon, Bonfire, Ashbury, Neff, and Bataleon for helping support the event in a big way.
